What We’re Looking For

</aside>

Update: We are now closed to submissions. Thank you all for pitching.

Tech Safari is looking to commission articles centred around African tech.

To make things clearer, here's what we're not prioritising—and by extension, what we are looking for:

  1. Broader Regional Coverage

    We’re especially interested in stories from outside the usual tech hotspots of Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. While those regions remain important, we already have a strong pulse on them. We're keen to spotlight underrepresented areas—think Northern Africa, Central Africa, and francophone countries.

  2. No Listicles

    We're not looking for "Top 10" or "Startups to Watch" type pieces. We prefer deep dives, original angles, and narratives that reveal more than just surface-level information.

  3. Fintech with a Twist

    We'll consider fintech stories—but only if they offer fresh perspectives or challenge the status quo. Skip the usual "financial inclusion" or "banking the unbanked" pitches. We want insight, not industry echo.

  4. Innovation that’s Actually Fun (and Useful)

    We're open to featuring startups doing unexpected things to solve everyday problems in clever ways. If it’s quirky, delightful, or creatively impactful — we want to hear about it. Check out how we featured 14Trees.

Our tone is conversational, easy to digest, but in depth and unique.

While each finished piece will be around 800-1,000 words, pitches should be 70-100 words long.
